Tan Dun's Water Passion at SummerFest 2012

Tomorrow August 4, Cho-Liang Lin, the San Diego Master Chorale, and an ensemble of SummerFest musicians perform Tan Dun's Water Passion After St. Matthew at the La Jolla Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre. Inspired by the relationship between water and renewal, Tan Dun's oratorio uses a "water-instruments orchestra" to animate texts drawn from the Gospel of St. Matthew and the composer's own reflections. Before the performance, Tan Dun, a longtime friend and colleague of Lin, will join him for an informal discussion.
